不知大家有没有在 YouTube 上看过《The Backrooms》恐怖短片？背景设置在 1996 年，一个年轻的视频制作人意外地进入一个密封空间，这里有无数个房间，一旦进去后就很难出来，还有可能会被未明生物追赶。昏暗的灯光，超现实的情节，加上失真复古的视频画面让人想到「Dreamcore」（梦核）美学，《The Backrooms》也因此被称为「互联网上最恐怖的视频」。
这部由 17 岁的年轻人 Kane Pixels 制作的视频在 YouTube 上收获 4,400 万次观看，而后还推出 15 部续集，正是这样眼前一亮的创意吸引了 A24 电影/电视制作公司，A24 将以《The Backrooms》为蓝本，由 Kane Pixels 一起担任导演工作，邀请《西部世界》的编剧兼制片人 Roberto Patino 编写剧本，曾创作过《招魂》、《MEGAN》等恐怖电影的 James Wan 和 Michael Clear 一起制作电影，目前该电影尚未确定演员阵容，感兴趣的朋友可先前往 YouTube 观看《The Backrooms》短片。
